Very rare and Christian book by Jérôme Besoigne (1686-1763); published in 1784; Basic Rules of Christian Justice or the Life of the Righteous; translated from French; Printer: Joseph Georg Traßler, imperial and royal privileged printer and bookseller; Book title: Besoigne, on Justice, Volume 2; includes a small copper engraving on the first page, printed on laid paper; Jérôme Besoigne was born in Paris in 1686 and is considered one of the most outstanding theologians of French Jansenism; In 1729, he lost his chair at the Sorbonne for refusing to recognize the papal bull Unigenitus Dei filius; his works are seminal examples of Jansenist spirituality; the book is in good condition with age-appropriate signs of use; 700 pages; dimensions: 12 x 18.5 cm.
