Little antique Fatschenkindl (Fatschenkindl = Child Jesus, monastery work) from Altötting; around 1900; the monastery work was made on the occasion of a pilgrimage to Altötting; this is a beautiful Mariage that was put together over several decades from old and new parts; the glass case and the Jesus child are from the 19th century, the decoration, the painting and the ribbon around the Fatschenkindl may have been added later; the silver cross reads: ALTÖTTINGER WALLFAHRT"; Altötting is the most important place of pilgrimage to the Virgin Mary in the German-speaking world (1489 to the present day) and is also known for its Black Madonna; the custom has existed since the Middle Ages, where Fatschenkinder are placed in the manger on Christmas Eve and set up in the Herrgottswinkel in private homes; traces of use according to age; dimensions: 7.5 x 11.5 x 3 cm
