Mandingo sword with a slightly curved iron blade and decorated leather sheath; 19th century - (Mandinka, Mandinko, Sose) Senegal, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast; the handle is made of red leather with embossed lines, the knob is made of cast brass; the sword sheath is made of red and dark-colored leather with embossed, geometric decor and wickerwork from two-tone leather strips; these swords were made by the blacksmith in the European style of the 19th century; the handle is firmly anchored with a dark patina; The lower end of the leather sheath is decorated with a painted tribal pattern, the leather has cracks, the wide leather straps are only partially preserved (see photos); a great exhibit; traces of use according to age; Sword size: 71 cm - sheath size: 60 cm
