Art from the prison camp „Wegscheid“ – First World War (WWI); carved wooden cigarette box with sliding lid, handmade by a Russian soldier from the war years 1914 – 1916; artistic carving on both sides, flower motif and a textual reference to time and place: „Вегшейдъ“ (Wegscheid) 1914 – 1916, on the back the initials  ft he owner „JR“; trench art with a beautiful patina; in the former prisoner of war camp „Wegscheid near Linz (Austria)“ 5. 163 deceased soldiers  ft he First World War still rest in the Linz-Wegscheid war cemetery, which was built right next to the camp; traces of use according to age; measurements: 9 x 9.5 cm – weight: 44 g
