Very heavy and antique photo album from the 19th century

Very heavy and antique photo album from the 19th century (1880 – 1900) with many large-format historical travel memories (97 photos) through Germany – Holland – England – France – Switzerland and Austria; some of the photographs were taken by the traveler personally, and some were purchased as photo cards during the trip to create a memory album afterward; many shots of cities and famous landmarks that no longer exist as they once did; the special feature of the photographs is the many large-format pictures included in the album; there are also photo prints by the famous English photographer "Francis Frith 1822-1898" (10 pieces - Francis Frith Albumin Print Photo Series); Frith gained high recognition for his photographs of the Orient and many British cities; we also have pictures by "Giorgio Sommer 1834-1914" (7 pieces), a German photographer and publisher who made history with his photographs of disasters and volcanic eruptions; also many large-format photographs by the German photographer "Carl Hertel 1832–1906" (3 pieces), "X Phot" (11 pieces), and monogrammed photos by "L.L." (3 pieces), "J.V." (3 pieces), "L.P." (1 piece), "N.P." (1 piece); in addition, there are many other photos of unknown origin; the European journey begins at Heidelberg Castle and then takes us through: Frankfurt am Main, along the Rhine past many castles and ruins to Drachenburg Castle near Königswinter and the former customs tower Binger Mäuseturm, then through Westerkerk (Holland) to England (London, Manchester, Liverpool, etc.); France (Paris); Switzerland (Mürren, Meiringen, Wegenalp, Lucerne, etc.) and Austria (Innsbruck, Traunkirchen, Hallstatt, Carinthia, Salzburg, etc.); 97 photographs ranging from postcard size 10x15 cm to 21x27 cm; nearly 50 large-format photographs and over 30 photos larger than postcard size; the photos are mounted (no visible discoloration on the photos); overall in good condition; the album is very heavy (approx. 6 kilos); album format: 41 x 31 cm; the pages are slightly wavy and slightly yellowed in places; the book cover is gold-embossed leather, ribbed spine; the clasp is silvered and decorated bronze or brass; the clasp works perfectly; a magnificent historical journey through old Europe.
