Products description

An electrical measuring instrument (voltmeter for current measurement) designed for demonstration purposes, dating back to the 19th century (1851–1865). The device was manufactured under the number "No. 26882" by the teaching aid institute and publisher "Anton Pichlers Witwe & Sohn" in Vienna. Intended for presentations in schools and universities, it features two coils, metal contacts, a pointer, and a scale mounted on a wooden base. A metal plaque on the base provides manufacturer information, while the front displays measurement values with "+" and "-", along with the inscription "Ges. W. 50.5 Ohm" in the center. The company was active in the 19th century; after the death of her husband in 1823, Elisabeth Pichler took over the business, and in 1851, her son Franz Pichler joined, leading to the name "A. Pichlers Witwe und Sohn," under which the company operated until 1865. Not tested for completeness or functionality; rust spots; signs of wear; sold in found condition; age-related signs of use; dimensions: 11,5 x 24 x 31,5 cm
