Medical teaching skull

Medical teaching skull from the private collection of a specialist physician (20th century). Several handwritten markings in Latin are present on the skull. Inside the cranial vault, there is a small note serving as the preparator’s business card: "Wolfgang Degenfelder, osteological preparator, etc." Additionally, a section of the ala minor is marked with a yellow line on the inside. The alae minores are two triangular bone plates of the sphenoid bone. The skull itself is a human specimen with a beautiful patina and a partially well-visible coronal suture (sutura coronalis). The cranial vault (calvaria) and the anterior cranial fossa (fossa cranii anterior) are precisely cut and can be removed and separated using metal hooks. The cranial cavity is clean and in excellent condition. The lower jaw is spring-loaded, movable, and also removable. The dentition is complete. The skull can be disassembled into four parts. On the inside, two additional springs are visible, indicating another puzzle-like connection. As is common with historic teaching aids, typical signs of use are present.
