A fine female spirit-figure, Baule-Yaure-Peoples, Ivory Coast; 1940 – 1960; female figure; strictly upright standing, arms and hands close to the sides of the body; long neck with five carved rings; cheek with scarification mark; big almond-shaped eyes, artistic hairstyle with a carved strand of hair that turns into an eyelet at the back (probably used to fasten); this figure suggests a colonial style; patinated black; Dry cracks; one foot damaged and painted black (oil paint, tar?); traces of use according to age; measurements: 20,5 cm; provenance: Estate / collection Gundi and Heinz Scharpf (1940-2018); The famous zookeepers from the Wilhelma zoological and botanical garden in Stuttgart had acquired the African objects during their trips to Cameroon and West Africa in the 1960s and 1970s;
