Old Dan mask with characteristic shape carved from wood, Liberia - mid-20th century; this mask has a strikingly broad and forward-curved forehead with a vertical decorative scar in the middle; its eyes are slit; mouth and jaw with a prognathism (malposition) with a small opening and two metal teeth made of aluminium; on the back there is a raffia to cover the hair; the holes on the edge look used; this mask could be an entertainment mask from the 20th century. It is assumed that this object could have come from the African collection of "William W. Brill"; traces of use according to age; dimensions: approx. 22 x 16.5 cm
