Antique sutra ritual; a fragment for a burnt offering ritual - for a white peaceable deity; c. 1900; 4 double-sided leaves, covers stamped in red with the Dharma Wheel, the "wheel of teaching"; sutras are short Buddhist texts or verses and contain the Buddha's teaching (Dharma, Sanskrit: धर्मसूत्र dharmasūtra).
The Dharma Wheel reminds Buddhists that their mind does not leave the world, changes form and later lives on in a new body;
