Old Diamond Sutra "Vajracchedikā"; a sermon by Buddha; first half of the 20th century; 36 double-sided sheets printed with hand-carved woodblock, partly rewritten by hand and ink; presumably produced for private households; sutras are short Buddhist texts or verses and contain Buddha's teachings (Dharma, Sanskrit: धर्मसूत्र dharmasūtra).
the Diamond Sutra is one of the most important texts of Mahāyāna Buddhism, was first written in the 1st century AD. and was one of the first Buddhist texts to be printed in block form - the first print version was produced in China in 868 and is considered the oldest printed book in the world; the Vajracchedikā means roughly: "The diamond-like supreme wisdom that cuts through illusion" (Vajracchedikā-prajñāpāramitā-sūtra); the content is a dialogue between the Buddha and one of his disciples (Subhuti);
