Old Japanese print by the great artist "Utagawa Kunisada" 1786 - 1865), known as Utagawa Toyokuni III (歌川 豊国 三代); Toyokuni III. was the most popular and successful draughtsman in Japan at the time and became famous for his colour woodblock prints; the title of the work is: "Thirty-two aspects of modern beauty" (今様三十二相 ) - There is a way aspect; cartouche of the artist 豊國画 "Painted by Toyokuni"; the carver was Yokokawa Takejir 横川彫竹; the seal of censorship was in 1859 (未弐改 - Edo period or Tokugawa period 1600-1867); publisher was "Shōrindō" (松林堂); colour woodcut ink and colour on paper; on the lower passe-partout frame and on the reverse there are handwritten notes by the former owner; due to ageing there are some warps and bumps in the paper (see photos); traces according to age and use; masurement image: ca. 25,5 x 37 cm / masurement frame: approx. 38 x 53
